In July of 1963 I trusted Jesus Christ as my Savior.  My sister Ann had just returned from Summer Bible Camp and shared with me what she had learned from the Bible.  She had received Jesus as her Savior while at camp, and I knew she had come home a changed, happier person.  I prayed God would take away my sin and come into my life.  I was filled with peace and joy.

     The following morning was Sunday, and my sister and I went to church.  The Johnson and Shorey families came along side us and helped us learn more about God and the Bible.  Within nine months my parents and older brother had also trusted Christ.  As I reflect back on those elementary years, my family was growing in the Lord; and we were serving the Lord in our church.

     I had the privilege to attend both a Christian high school and a Christian college.  While in college I met my husband, Pastor Stan Smith, and we married in August 1975.  The Lord has blessed us with three wonderful children.  

     I have been teaching English at Liberty since 1998.  I consider my teaching assignment a gift from God:  I get to be around some of the most delightful young people in the world and share with them my passion for the English language, encouraging them to develop extraordinary verbal and writing skills.  I hope to see many of my students become confident adults who will follow God and pursue careers that will honor God and their families.
