My Personal Testimony

I was born in a small, rural town south of Chicago, Illinois.  I do not have any brothers or sisters, just my parents and I on a large farm.  There is a lot for a boy to do with a good imagination, a loyal dog, and open farm land.  In the summer, when I was five, when it was time to go to bed, I remember asking my mom about how to go to heaven.  She knelt down by my bed and explained what I needed to do to be saved.  I did not want to go to hell, and Heaven sounded so much better.  It was there on my bed – that my mom lead me to the Lord.  My mom is very dear to me.

In the summer between my 2nd and 3rd grade year; my parents told me that we were moving to California.  I had never been to California – and that idea sounded good to me.

My father had taken a job as the athletic director, coach and teacher at a school in San Jose, California named Liberty Baptist.  I attended Liberty starting my third grade year – and graduated in 1996.  A number of things can be said about having your dad be your teacher, class advisor, and as your basketball and baseball coach for four years.  What I can say is that my dad is one of my best friends.  I enjoyed my time at Liberty as a student.  It was during my time there that I felt the Lord wanted me to be a teacher and coach.

The fall of my senior year in high school, I wanted to be a teacher and coach at a Christian school.  I knew that I would not work at Liberty – but was open to work wherever the Lord would have me.  I attended Pensacola Christian College and graduated with my degree in Physical Education and a minor in history.  And, as the Lord would have it, through a series of events, I accepted an offer to teach at Liberty the spring of my senior year of college – April of 2000.

This is my tenth year to work at Liberty as the athletic director and coach and teacher.  In my ten years here at Liberty, my life has changed.  My wife also graduated from Liberty – and we have been married for three years now.  I have a dog and home – and am very blessed.  I enjoy seeing new students come to our school, and am excited every time basketball season comes around.  Athletics are close to my heart, and I have enjoyed being apart of that program here at Liberty.
